Bellville is a small village located in the north-central part of Ohio, United States. It is situated in Richland County, and according to the latest census data available (2010), it has a population of approximately 1,918 people.

The history of Bellville dates back to the early 19th century when the village was founded. The area was initially settled by European immigrants who came to Ohio in search of better opportunities. The village was named after John Bell, a prominent figure in the local community who owned a tavern and a general store.

Throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries, Bellville grew into a prosperous agricultural and industrial center. The village was home to several mills, factories, and farms that produced a variety of goods, including flour, wool, and leather. The railroad also played a significant role in the village's growth, as it provided a means of transportation for goods and people.

In the mid-20th century, Bellville experienced a decline in industry and population as many people moved to larger cities in search of work. However, in recent years, the village has seen a resurgence in growth and development. Many people have moved back to Bellville and surrounding areas due to the town's affordable cost of living and proximity to major cities.

Today, Bellville is a charming village with a strong sense of community. It has several parks and recreational areas, including the Mohican State Park and Reservoir, which offers hiking, camping, and fishing opportunities. The village also has several annual events, such as the Bellville Street Fair, which attracts visitors from all over Ohio.

Overall, Bellville is a small but thriving village with a rich history and a bright future. It continues to attract new residents and visitors with its small-town charm, natural beauty, and strong community spirit.

Bellville is dissected by SR13, SR97 and I-71 in the beautiful rolling hills of southern Richland County.  Bellville is about halfway between Cleveland and Columbus.  The Clear Fork Creek meanders through the village as does the B&O Bike Trail. The 1878 Bandstand, the special architectural features of the downtown buildings, the streetscape on Main Street, with  unique shopping, dining, lodging, and more makes Bellville a wonderful place to visit and a great place to live.  Combining the above features with the Clear Fork Creek and the B&O Bike Trail Bellville gives Bellville a real “Norman Rockwell” feel to it.
